Chairman's Statement on MOGA's Priorities:
“Our national health system is one of the best in the world but requires continual improvement and review to ensure best practice performance. MOGA actively contributes to this process by engaging in professional activities across oncology practice to enact effective and efficient change for the benefit of both Australian clinicians and their patients, above all with regard to oncology drugs and treatment issues. Given that cancer is the leading cause of death in Australia, medical oncologists face many challenges and play an important role in the delivery and development of national cancer services. MOGA’s immediate priorities are to focus on urgent medical oncology workforce issues and ensuring access to leading edge oncology drugs and treatments in Australia, that keep pace with developments overseas. MOGA also needs to be a strong voice for our professional views across a spectrum of issues notably the many bogus treatments often reported in the media.”
