STANDING COMMITTEES

  • Awards Sub-committee

Chair, Linda Mileshkin

This committee considers applications for awards and prizes five to eight times per annum, providing advice when required (eg at ASM on poster/presentation prizes).

  • Medical Oncology Group Education Sub-Committee (MOGES)

Chair, Craig Lewis

This committee meets face to face at Annual Scientific Meeting to discuss medical oncology education issues and works closely with the Special Advisory Committee in Medical Oncology in the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

  • Ethics Sub-Committee

This committee addresses specific Ethics issues, develops associated MOGA policies and provides ethics advice ad hoc. Once a year this committee reviews other issues which may need to be considered.

  • Drugs Issues Sub-committee

This committee is composed of a long list of members that meet ad hoc to consider drug issues.

This committee is convened yearly to deliver the MOGA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM).

The multidisciplinary groups of experts on both the Steering Committee and Working Group have been established to develop a national cancer education program for non-cancer specialist medical practitioners, especially those in rural and remote areas, with the aim to improve cancer management throughout Australia.  This project is funded by Cancer Australia.

This working party was established to address the need to re-vamp the welcome package and Trainees’ Guide to Medical Oncology which will be launched in 2009.

This group was established to develop an educational module in pharmacology for advanced trainees in medical oncology over 2007-2009.

  • Enhancing Palliation in Patients with Advanced Cancer in Rural and Remote Areas of Australia

The Management and Advisory committees were established to develop and implement an online educational learning program for general practitioners in rural and remote areas of Australia through funding from the Federal Department of Health and Ageing as well as Hospital Pty Ltd.
