$5,000 for one consultant medical oncologist, who is a financial, ordinary member of the Medical Oncology Group of Australia to attend an international meeting

Dr Tom John
Dr Tom John, a Medical Oncologist at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in Victoria, was awarded the Medical Oncology Group of Australia-GlaxoSmithKline Travel Award 2007.
Dr John utilised his award to attend the American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting in Chicago USA in June this year and presented details of his research findings in an abstract titled: Predicting clinical outcome through gene expression profiling in Stage III Melanoma.
Dr John also recently delivered a special presentation on his research activities at the Annual MOGA Dinner, sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline that was held in Adelaide on 14 November in conjunction with the COSA Annual Scientific Meeting.
Dr John is a graduate of Monash University where he undertook his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery graduating in 1996 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians on 2005. In 2007 he received a Merit award from the American Society for Clinical Oncology and was invited to give an oral presentation at this major international meeting.
