“Medical Oncology is a relatively young profession and our Association is pleased to be celebrating thirty years of robust service to the Australian community during 2008-2009. I trust that all our members and trainees will join us in celebrating this important milestone in our history at the 2009 Annual Scientific Meeting”, says Associate Professor Bogda Koczwara, Chairman, MOGA.

The Association’s 30th anniversary year will conclude with major celebrations at the 2009 Annual Scientific Meeting in Canberra.  This meeting will be a MOGA only meeting that will explore the theme of the Epidemiology of Cancer. The meeting convenor and past MOGA Chairman, Professor Robin Stuart-Harris, is working with a small group of MOGA members to develop a dynamic, challenging and cutting edge scientific program.

The scientific program will feature four international keynote speakers including Professor Derek Raghavan (pictured left), the M. A full and extensive scientific program is currently being planned including a day-long Trainee Program incorporating workshops in key areas of clinical practice, lectures, discussion sessions and a practical skills training session, plus two and one half days of scientific sessions covering recent developments in clinical practice.

Highlights of the meeting will include the Gala Black-Tie Anniversary Dinner at the Australian Parliament House with a screening of The View from the Chair, a short film on the history of MOGA, and an exhibition of selected photos from the 30th Anniversary Photographic Competition called Visions of Medical Oncology.
