On Saturday 23 May 2009, a small group of Australian oncologists, chaired by Associate Professor Michael Green, took part in a round table discussion that aimed to tackle two key issues in the treatment of breast cancer using targeted therapies:
1. How to monitor for cardiac toxicities when treating with biologic therapies and,
2. How long to treat with a biologic in breast cancer in the advanced setting.
The meeting consisted of a number of presentations, case studies and discussions and the videos of this have been edited into shorter sections to provide a resource that is available for oncologists and specialists in the field. Please follow the link below to view these video clips:

Oncology Drugs Horizon Scanning Report 2009
Please download MOGA's Horizon Scanning Report 2009, along with Attachment 1, Attachment 2 and Attachment 3 (available for MOGA members only). This report has been prepared on the basis of presentations made at the 2009 meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the foremost international conference for the presentation of new research in oncology.
Members of the Medical Oncology Group of Australia’s (MOGA) Register of Experts and Drugs Working Group were asked to identify and provide data on the key presentations made at ASCO in their respective areas of expertise.
The information provided was then appraised by the MOGA Drug Issues Sub-committee to identify drug developments that were most likely to affect future clinical practice in medical oncology. This report provides horizon scanning information on new oncology drugs and discrepancies between evidence and practice for each new drug.
All members of the Register of Experts and Drug Issues Sub-Committee comply with the MOGA Competing Interests Policy which requires declaration of competing interests.
The 2010 Horizon Scanning Report is currently in development and will be available on this website from 26th November.

Draft Curriculum
Please see the Draft Curriculum - last modified July 2008 for advanced training in medical oncology which MOGA has prepared in collaboration with the RACP. This curriculum is in line with the ASCO/ESMO recommendations for a global core curriculum in medical oncology.
The curriculum focuses on oncology specific knowledge and skills and is designed to be used in conjunction with the Professional Qualities Curriculum prepared by the RACP, which covers generic skills required by all physicians. A summary of the draft Professional Qualities Curriculum is available at Professional Qualities Curriculum.
Please note that the RACP is currently working on assessment strategies. Once this work is complete the assessment strategies included in the draft medical oncology curriculum may need to be reviewed.
