MOGA ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING & BEST OF ASCO AUSTRALIA AUGUST 2011
ADVANCES IN CANCER CARE-COST + VALUE
The 2011 ASM Planning Committee was led by Dr Chris Karapetis as Convenor, included Prof Bogda Koczwara, Prof Michael Brown, Prof Ian Olver, Dr Tim Price, Dr Ken Pitman and A/Prof Sid Selva. The meeting included a blend of tumour specific sessions with a focus on GI, Lung and Neuroendocrine tumours as well as sessions on survivorship, cost effective therapies, and the health economics of high cost oncology drugs.
The Meeting was designated as an European Society of Medical Oncology ESMO Supported Meeting and the ESMO international keynote speaker, Prof Tony Mok, Prof of Clinical Oncology, Chinese University of Hong Kong presented on Lung cancer. A/Prof Deborah Schrag, A/Prof of Medicine, Harvard Medical School presented on Colorectal cancer. Neuroendocrine tumours were the focus of a Lutate session with presentations by Australian experts, Prof Rodney Hicks, Prof of Medicine and Radiology, University of Melbourne and Director, Cente for Molecular Imaging, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Prof Harvey J. Turner, Department of Nuclear Medicine, Freemantle Hospital. Prof Natasha Leighl, Medical Oncologist, Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, presented on Lung Cancer.
The Australian Lungs Cancer Trials Group (ALTG) held a trials update and review meeting in Adelaide to coinciding with the MOGA ASM.
The MOGA 20011 ASM was a European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) Supported Meeting held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide, South Australia on Wednesday 10 August - Friday 12 August 2011. BEST OF ASCO 2011 Australia was a full day program on Saturday 13 August also held at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
