About the Meeting

In 2023 the national medical oncology profession will gather in Perth, Western Australia for our 44th Annual Scientific Meeting - the national meeting of the Australian Medical Oncology profession will comprise a robust academic program focused on the latest developments in clinical practice and research, with a range of professional and social networking activities. The theme of Frontiers in Cancer Care reflects both our geographic location and the scope of the meeting program.

  • MOGA has 10 travel awards that are available to advanced trainees and young oncologists who are members of MOGA to support their attendance at the 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting.

    The Awards will cover return economy airfares from the applicant’s nearest airport to Perth, registration and accommodation at the Intercontinental Perth (for up to 3 nights of Wednesday 2 - Friday 4 August, inclusive).

    Selection Criteria and Application

  • MOGA is pleased to support the roll-out of the National Mentorship Program led by Dr Udit Nindra and Dr Jenny (Jia) Liu at the 2023 ASM. The Networking Lounge located in Room 12 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, will be a quiet location where mentors and mentees participating in the program can met up face to face over light refreshments, and at their discretion. The Lounge will be accessible from Tuesday-Friday of the meeting at the following times:

    Wednesday 2 August 7-9am,12.45-1.45pm

    Thursday 3 August 7-8am, 12noon-1.00pm, 3.30-4.30pm

    Friday 4 August 7-8am, 12.30-1.30pm, 3.30-4.30pm

  • All delegates will be able to access complimentary In-room Private Sitting per family. This service will be provided by Cherished Cherubs Perth. The babysitters and nannies meet strict criteria before they are accepted as part of the team. They are personally interviewed, fully screened, have a current working with children police check, the mandatory Blue Card issued by the Commission for Children and Young People(CCP).

Bishal Gyawali, MD, PhD is a medical oncologist and an Associate Professor in medical oncology and public health sciences and scientist in the Division of Cancer Care and Epidemiology, in Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada.

Matteo Lambertini is Associate Professor and consultant in medical oncology at the University of Genova – IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino in Genova in Italy. 

 
 
 

2023 CANcer achievement award

Professor Georgina Long AO, Co-Medical Director of Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA), and Chair of Melanoma Medical Oncology and Translational Research at MIA and Royal North Shore Hospital, The University of Sydney has been awarded the Medical Oncology Group of Australia - Novartis Oncology Cancer Achievement Award 2023, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to medical oncology in Australia.

The Award will be presented at the MOGA 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting on Thursday, 3 August, followed by a presentation by Professor Long.

 

PROFESSOR M. TATTERSALL HEROES AWARD  

Announced for the first time in 2021, this new, annual Award seeks to recognise contributions by medical oncologists that honour the spirit, courage and commitment of the late Professor Martin Tattersall AO, and his significant contributions to Medical Oncology in Australia.   

2023 Award Recipient: Ms Kay Francis

Kay dedicated work and outstanding commitment have provided invaluable strategic management and professional guidance to MOGA over more than 2 decades, as the national professional organisation for Australian medical oncology and the profession; and, as a specialty society of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.  

The Award will be presented at the MOGA 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting Networking Function on Friday 4 August at the Perth Convention Centre

Workshops are free and presented by RACP Fellows trained in Supervisor Professional Development Program (SPDP) facilitation.

Face-to-face workshops at 2023 MOGA ASM

Face-to-face workshops are facilitated in-person and run for 3 hours. Learning is enhanced by peer discussions. Any costs associated with attending, such as travel or accommodation, are at your expense.
