Oncology Clinical Research Fellow – 0.80 EFT
One Year Fixed Term
About the Role
As the Clinical Research Fellow, you will be part of a clinical, research and academic team within the Oncology Department. You will be responsible for the care of patients on clinical trials and will be exposed to a range of research activities related to early phase and phase III national and international clinical trials, as well as in-house investigator- initiated projects.
Duties
Provide direct medical care to assigned clinical trial patients under the supervision and guidance of a Senior Staff Specialist
Assist in identifying patients that are potentially eligible for clinical trials
Assist in consenting and coordination of tissue for studies involving molecular screening
Undertake clinical trial procedural work including oversight of ethics submissions, tumour measurements and serious adverse event reporting
Participation in site qualification meetings, site initiation visits as well as safety review committee meetings for early phase studies (with supervision/guidance from senior staff specialist)
Take part in audits, clinical research and quality management initiatives within Cancer Services
Participate in regular research meetings with clinical trials personnel
Participate in education of medical and nursing staff
Participate as an Oncology representative on the Human Research Ethics committee
Assist in general Oncology clinics intermittently as needed
Participate in the Oncology on-call roster not more than 1 in 6 weeks
This is a one year, 0.80FTE , fixed term position.
Classifications for this position will range from HM25 - HM30 ($129,048.40 - $177,622.12 pro rata + salary sacrifice and excluding super
What You will Bring
Registration as a medical practitioner without conditions, with APHRA
FRACP in Medical Oncology or completed at least 2 years of advanced training in medical oncology
Clinical skills and abilities are expected, consistent with the level of training in oncology according to the years of experience in the specialty
Good communication skills at a primary patient care and inter-professional level.
Strong interest in patient care, research and clinical trials
Current GCP certificate
About the Department
The Department of Oncology at SVHM provides a comprehensive service to in-patients, day patients, outpatients and satellite clinics. The Department has an active clinical research program and employs several clinical trials co-ordinators, data managers and MD and PhD students. The Oncology Clinical Trials Unit conducts national and International clinical trials across a breadth of tumour streams. The Department is strongly affiliated with the University of Melbourne in its research and teaching activities. SVHM is an alliance member of the VCCC and has good working relationships with external cancer and government agencies.
