About Southern Oncology Clinical Research Unit
Southern Oncology Clinical Research Unit (SOCRU) is a dedicated early phase clinical trials unit in the private sector. SOCRU provides people with cancer additional treatment options and the opportunity to contribute to ongoing cancer research whilst receiving the highest quality, evidence based clinical care from our skilled health professionals. About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic physician/medical oncology trainee/junior medical oncology consultant with a vision for improving medical oncology services through the provision of clinical trial treatment options for patients. This is a full-time position; however, part-time of other arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Perform delegated trial activities as sub investigators under direct supervision of principal investigators
The health screening and care of people with cancer wishing to participate in early phase clinical trials
Collecting medical history and conducting physical examinations as part of the screening, pre-treatment and outpatient process
Review of participant trial eligibility in line with Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) approved study protocols
Reviewing pathology results, vital sign and ECG readings
Monitoring the well-being of and providing medical care to participants
Identify and report on Adverse Events and Serious Adverse Events
Oversee administration of all trial related treatments as delegated by the principal investigator
Recognise clinical deterioration of trial participants
Liaising with clinical and non-clinical staff as well as senior consultants to conduct tasks required to fulfill study protocols
Provide support for the conduct of clinical trials within SOCRU
Completion of source documentation
Key Selection Criteria:
Essential Experience
Hold a current unconditional medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia/AHPRA
Suitable for final year Medical Oncology advanced trainees for non-core year training or junior consultants wanting exposure and training in early phase oncology trials
Good communication skills and working well in team
Desirable Experience
Advanced life support training, or willingness to undergo training
Knowledge of and training in ICH Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP)
