Primary Purpose
To provide high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred specialist Medical Oncology services within the Coffs Clinical Network, contributing to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients with cancer. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the provision of specialist Cancer Care services to emergency patients, inpatients and outpatients at the relevant Hospitals.
The Medical Oncologist will proactively:
Support the development of Cancer Care services
Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice
Support and develop Medical Oncology Research and Clinical Trials
Support and participate in quality improvement and governance activities
Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice
The role supports the strategic goals of MNCLHD and the NSW Cancer Plan by improving cancer outcomes, reducing inequities, and fostering collaborative, person-centred care with a Commitment to NSW Health CORE values.
The position is primarily based at the Mid North Coast Cancer Institute (Coffs Harbour), whilst providing inpatient services to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital and outreach clinics to Macksville District Hospital. The Medical Oncologist position is networked with a commitment to consultative services across the district.
This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer.

Selection Criteria
Registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Medical Oncologist, and/or overseas trained specialist pathway.
Demonstrated recent experience in the provision of effective high-quality medical oncology services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students and other staff of the hospital and evidence of supervisor training.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites, modelling a high standard of professional behaviour.
Demonstrated experience in, and commitment to research relevant to the role and needs of the Department.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to digital transformation initiatives, including the implementation and effective use of electronic medical records, telehealth services, and data-driven approaches to improve oncology care delivery
Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
