  • Dr Rebecca Symons

    Melanoma Institute Australia

    Dr Symons is a medical oncologist at Melanoma Institute Australia, specialising in non-melanoma complex skin cancers. She completed a fellowship at Melanoma Institute Australia in 2024 and since then have locumed at multiple centres across several tumour streams, including melanoma and skin cancer. She also is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of New South Wales exploring the role of real-world data to generate evidence in rare cancers. 

  • A/Prof Steven Kao

    Chris O’Brien Lifehouse

    A/Prof Steven Kao is a medical oncologist at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. He completed his PhD at the Asbestos Diseases Research Institute and focused his research on predictive and prognostic factors in malignant mesothelioma. Steven has a wide clinical, translational and psycho-social research interest in thoracic cancers including malignant mesothelioma and asbestos-related lung cancers.

    He was awarded the Premier’s Award for Outstanding Cancer Research Scholar from the Cancer Institute NSW in 2012.

  • Dr Robert Yoon

    South Western Sydney Local Health District

    Dr. Yoon graduated from UNSW in 2014 (BMed/MD) and completed his FRACP in medical oncology in 2022 following training at Liverpool, Macarthur and Southern Highland Cancer Centres. He currently works as a medical oncologist at Southern Highland Cancer Centre. His clinical interests are in gastrointestinal, lung and breast cancers.

    Concurrently, Dr. Yoon is completing his PhD in stomach and oesophagus cancers through Western Sydney University. He is also a clinical lecturer at Blacktown Clinical School as he shares his expertise in oncology with the future generation of doctors. He has been involved as an investigator in over 40 phase 1-3 clinical trials. His research findings have been showcased in leading international oncology conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
