Transition to Consultant Workshop brings together junior and experienced consultants to share practical insights and strategies for navigating the shift to independent practice. The session is designed to support advanced trainees and early-career oncologists in building confidence and preparing for the clinical, professional and career development challenges of consultant life.

Session 1: Navigating the System

  1. 7.00-7.20pm: Starting out as a consultant - Dr Tharani Krishnan

  2. 7.20-7.40pm: Private practice: Joining a group vs solo practice - A/Prof Rachel Roberts-Thomson

  3. 7.40-8.00pm: Locum work - Dr Rebecca Symons

  4. 8.00-8.30pm: Public staff specialist award and billings - State specific breakout rooms

 

Session 2: Building your Career

  1. 7.00-7.30pm: Scholarships and grant writing - A/Prof Megan Barnet

  2. 7.30-8.00pm: CV preparation and consultant interview tips - Dr Angelina Tjokrowidjaja

  3. 8.00-8.30pm: PhD pathways: lab-based, clinical, or trial-focused research - Dr Jeremy Mo and Dr Joanna Lee
