Townsville Hospital and Health Service is seeking a senior medical oncologist or cancer care specialist to lead the Townsville Cancer Centre (TCC) as Medical Director. This strategic leadership role encompasses oversight of clinical governance, workforce planning, education, and research across a comprehensive cancer service.
The successful candidate will maintain a negotiated clinical caseload and work closely with Clinical Directors across medical oncology, haematology, radiation oncology, and palliative care. The role supports integration with James Cook University and national research networks, and contributes to service innovation and multidisciplinary care delivery.
Key Criteria
Fellowship of a recognised specialist medical college (e.g. FRACP)
Current or eligible registration with the Medical Board of Australia
Demonstrated leadership in oncology service delivery and clinical governance
Eligibility for Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) within THHS
Experience in research, education, and service development
