About Us
Founded by the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, Linear operates Western Australia’s only dedicated early phase clinical trials facilities in Nedlands and Joondalup, focusing on a wide range of therapeutic areas including an expanding oncology portfolio. Our Advanced Clinical Trial Centre (ACTC), located within the QEII Medical precinct next to the WA State Cancer Centre, is Australia’s first facility dedicated to bringing novel cancer therapies through clinical trials. We are now looking for Medical Oncologists to work with us on a part-time basis.
The Opportunity
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, as a Consultant Medical Oncologist, you will provide clinical expertise to ensure the safe delivery of Medical Oncology clinical trials in line with our sponsors and regulatory requirements. Demonstrating a commitment to evidence-based practice, research and good clinical practice, you will also undertake the role of Principal Investigator on a range of Medical Oncology clinical trials.
With 0.6FTE available and a flexible approach to how this is allocated, we are ideally looking for either one or two consultants to work with us ideally including some of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Salary is based on AMA (WA) award.
Duties will include;
· Provide excellent and comprehensive patient centered service and medical oversight of all oncology clinical trials performed at Linear.
· Ensure the safe and effective administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, endocrine and other therapies and appropriate patient monitoring.
· Ensure that all aspects of service are delivered safely and conform to national standards, International Council for Harmonisation (ICH), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and published guidelines.
· Provide expertise in the management of cancer patients by developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialities.
· Support Research Physicians and Fellows in the management of serious adverse events to ensure accurate recording of event against study protocol and GCP requirements.
Your Experience
The ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate the following;
· Specialist qualifications and be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration.
· Fellowship of the RACP with advanced training in Medical Oncology.
· Experience in clinical trials as a Principal Investigator and/or Sub-investigator.
· Working knowledge of relevant clinical trial standards, procedures and regulations including ICH GCP.
· Exceptional leadership skills, ability to motivate, coach and mentor staff to ensure outcomes are delivered and objectives met.
You’ll be required to be up to date with all your vaccinations as this a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, MRSA, TB and Pertussis.
